Arches – My Sunday Photo – 13/11/17

Hello everyone. This weeks #mysundayphoto is another look at some photos in my archives. As you may be aware I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to medieval buildings, but I hadn’t noticed until now how many of my photos focus on arches. Doors, windows, ceilings, fireplaces, if there is an arch I will photograph it.

A wall in chepstow castle. Three arch doors at ground level. A wooden stairs leading to a third door. The sky beyond the wall is bright blue

I love the arches you have found, there is something satisfying about the shape, which is probably why they were once so popular. Today we are much more lazy and it’s all squares because they are easier.

It’s really stunning, even as a ruin. I wonder what it used to look like in all its glory!

I love the first photo. Arches are such lovely things to photograph and so interesting to see how the shapes change over different periods of history 🙂
