Chepstow Castle Open Doors – My Sunday Photo – 30/09/18

Hello everyone. This weekend I am indulging my love of castles. During the month of September Cadw the Welsh heritage organisation holds open door days im a variety of historical buildings in Wales. This weekend is the turn of Chepstow Castle and Raglan Castle. Mr A and myself decided to combine our weekly shopping trip with a visit to Chepstow Castle today.

I have always loved Chepstow Castle, ever since my family moved to this area. I never tire of taking pictures of it.

A view of the chepstow castle, showing a grassy area in the foreground and the river behind the castle. Blue sky above
I braved walking along the castle walls to take this picture

The outside of a building in the castle. Showing two small arched windows

Stair leading up through am archway, through the archway you can see another doorway in the distance

A large arch doorway, beyond the door is a tree and some grass
I’m a bit obsessed with doorways and arches

Tomorrow we plan to visit Raglan Castle, so next weeks post will probably be castle related too.

Have you had a chance to take advantage of an open door event in your area over the summer?

Love the Open Doors festivities but sadly they aligned with our annual trip to France this time. #PointShoot

You’ve sparked my curiosity. Love the Open Door days but sadly it’s clashed with our trip to France. May be next year we’ll do both. #MySundayPhoto

Reminds me of school trips. We’d pass through Chepstow on our way to Wales.

That walk looks familiar. I’m sure we did that a few times.

They are open all year round, but usually there is an entrance fee for them.

Haven’t been to Chepstow in years, forgotten how gorgeous the castle is! My Nana lived in Chepstow so we went quite regularly, sadly that stopped once she passed away. Lovely to see it, such fab weather too! #mixitup

I do love castles, here in the Midlands we have a zoo built in one, so you get the best of both for your money. I especially love your photo of the stairs through the archway, that’s brilliant. x

I love all these but the third picture with the untrimmed stones forming the arch with the broken stair and the sun in the background is awesome. You can tell you have feelings for this castle.
