Christmas Is Coming

Hello everyone. I’m aware the title of this post will make 50% of readers cheer with joy and the other 50% groan. So I wholeheartedly apologise to those who are not fans of the prolonged build up to Christmas.

However as a crafter I have to think about Christmas earlier than most. In order to ensure that I have sufficient time to create amazing crochet wonders for people to gift at Christmas I have to start early. I’m therefore officially opening my Christmas order book from the 3rd of September.

For a £10 deposit per item people can place an order that will be completed and delivered in plenty of time for Christmas.

I would suggest people order early as last year my order book was full by the middle of october.

What Do I Make?

A good question. My crochet makes are very varied. Softies are my biggest seller, but I also make hats, blankets, dolls and clothes. If anyone has an idea for something made out of wool that is not listed, please contact me and we can discuss designs.

The following is a list of some of the items I have made in the past year.

Crochet grey and cream monkey
This cheeky little monkey would be a winner with any small child. £26
Crochet Yoshi
Yoshi from the Mario Bros. £30
A set of crochet figures depicting the band Queen
The full set of Queen softies. £25-£40 per figure depending on their instrument.
Crochet Angel with brown hair wearing a white dress with a frilly green edge
A Christmas Angel (can be modified into a simple doll). £26
Man wearing a crochet viking hat
A Viking hat. Can be made for adults or kids (Mr A is unfortunately not for sale) £14 for childs hat. £18 for adults hat.
A crochet hat with a smiling face and curly pink hair
A smiley face hat. For babies or toddlers Babies hat £12. Toddlers hat £14
A purple crochet dragon
A goth dragon. Can be made in any colour combination. £28
A crochet baby penguin
A cute baby penguin. £24
A crochet giraffe
A sweet little giraffe. Every one made has a unique spot pattern. £24
A green crochet racd car
A Ford Focus inspired car. £30
A white crochet unicorn with a rainbow mane and tail
My top seller this year, a rainbow unicorn. £28
A crochet Winnie The Pooh
Winnie the Pooh, a classic childhood friend, for £30
Crochet Freddie Mercury in a yellow jacket and white trousers, Jeremey Corbyn in a brown suit amd Davud Bowie in a 70s stripey catsuit
A range of Mini-Me famous people. Freddie, David Bowie and Jeremy Corbyn are but a few I’ve made this year. £25
A crochet donkey with red wings
From the film Shrek, a donkey dragon baby £30

This is a sample of what has come off my hook this year. All items are made to order so can be made to any colour or modified in other ways to make a completely unique gift for someone or even for yourself.

I could finish off this post by saying how brilliant my crochet items are, but instead I asked  some the wonderful people who have  bought items over the past year to say what they think about their purchases.

Julie from Picking Up Toys :-

“When I tasked the lovely Tracey to make us a Mario & Luigi as birthday presents for my children I knew they’d be great having seen her previous work but I wasn’t expecting them to be as amazing as they are. They were much bigger than I had anticipated and very well made. They look exactly like the intended characters and my children were – and still are – delighted with them. Tracey has an amazing talent and anyone that purchases from her will be delighted.”

Jan from Me Again :-

“I loved all the pictures Tracey posted of the work she does, so I ordered a Unicorn (with rainbow colours) last year, not really knowing what to expect. I was absolutely chuffed to bits when she arrived. She is beautifully put together and has a unique character. She has pride of place in my bedroom and makes me smile every day.”

Heather who writes Shank-You-Very-Much is one of my international customers :-

“I ordered a gorgeous multi-colored elephant. Tracey is awesome to work with, she was able to do any colors I wanted – which is great since my niece is partial to colors that are difficult to find in ready-made items. The elephant was so beautiful and I was surprised at how soft it was. My niece likes to rub it on her cheek when she’s sleepy. I plan on having Tracey make me a custom stuffed animal that looks like my English Bulldog, her attention to detail is amazing.”

And last but by no means least my Twitter daughter Ember who writes Relentlessly Purple

“We love Hooks & Dragons fabulous crochet skills. We’ve had 2 Unicorns, a Sid Vicious & my lovely Dragon made by Tracey and have loved them all! My daughters are still obsessed with their unicorns months later. Being able to order unique tailor made gifts such as Sid is amazing and we will definitely be ordering more”

If you would like to place an order or discuss a totally new comission please leave a comment or contact me on Twitter @hooksanddragons or on Facebook Hooks and Dragons .
