Rib Cuffed Fingerless Gloves – Free Pattern

Hello everyone. We’ve had some lovely warm weather recently, but watching the news earlier I saw we are expecting a return of icy weather with possibly the chance of some snow this week. So I’ve decided to share my pattern for some rib cuffed fingerless gloves. I designed these gloves for my mum (check her out modeling them in the picture) as she wanted something to keep her hands warm while letting her still get things out of her bag. I think they work perfectly.

Chunky yarn

5mm hook

All crochet terms are in the US style

Sc = single crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
2sc = 2sc into the next stitch

Cuff

1) chain 19, hdc each chain starting 2nd chain from hook.

2) Chain 1 (turning chain) working only in the front loop hdc into each stitch.

3) Chain 1 (turning chain) working only in the back loop hdc into each stitch.

4-19) repeat rows 2 and 3 eight times.

20) Chain 1 (turning chain) working only in the front loop hdc into each stitch.

Fold piece in half so the wrong side is facing out, use slip stitches to join the top and bottom edges of the piece together. Turn the around so the right side is facing out. You will now be working in continuous circles to complete the top of the glove.

Glove

1) work 26 sc stitches evenly along the top of the glove.

2) sc into each stitch.

3) sc into the next 12 stitches, 2sc, 2sc, sc into last 12 stitches.

4) sc into each stitch.

5) sc into the next 12 stitches, 2sc, sc, sc, 2sc, sc into last 12 stitches.

6) sc into each stitch.

7) sc into the next 12 stitches, 2sc, sc into the next 4 stitches, 2sc, sc into last 12 stitches.

8) sc into each stitch.

9) sc into the next 12 stitches, 2sc, sc into th2 next 6 stitches, 2sc, sc into last 12 stitches.

10) sc into each stitch.

11) sc into the next 12 stitches, 2sc, sc into the next 8 stitches, 2sc, sc into last 12 stitches.

12-26) sc into each stitch

27) sc into next 13 stitches, skip 10 stitches, sc into last 13 stitches (this creates the thumb hole).

28-29) sc into each stitch.

Thumb

1)Join back onto any stitch round the thumb hole, sc into each stitch.

2-3) sc into each stitch.

To tidy up bottom edge of glove join in any place and make 26 sc stitches evenly along the bottom.

The finished gloves are warm and very practical for when you’re out and about in the cold weather.

    These are super cosy and handy too. I’m always pulling the sleeves of my jumper down to keep my hands warm when this does a better job as you have the thumb slot too! #MixItUp

    I love these! The main issue I have with gloves is not being able to use my fingers while I’m wearing them so these would be perfect for that. Now I just have to learn to crochet lol
