Roller Blinds From Make My Blinds

Hello readers. Mr A and myself have lived in our flat for almost 4 years now. In that time we’ve decorated every room except the bedroom. That’s something we’re planning to address soon, however we need some work done on the walls before it’s ready to decorate, so for now we’re focusing on other parts of the room.

One thing that needed updating was the windows. We had a cheap venetian blind in one window and nothing at all on the second window. The blind was put up by Mr A when we first moved in because the window is at the front of the flat and can be seen by anyone on the street. Now I have to say Mr A has many skills in life, but unfortunately D.I.Y is not one of them. The said blind was actually held up with selotape!

Yes, I really did say I had blinds held up by sellotape

One  reason why we had not replaced the blinds before now is because our windows are not standard sizes. One in particular is very long and narrow, so we knew we would need made to measure blinds.  So when I came across the  I knew they were just what we needed.

Chosing a blind from Make My Blinds

Make My Blinds offer a wide range of different made to measure blinds. We’re looking for blackout blinds as Mr A has trouble sleeping unless the room is in darkness. We also knew we wanted the blinds to be grey. We gave these details to our appointed sales assistant Jim and he sent us some samples.

Mr A and myself talked about which ones we liked the best (basically this involved me saying which ones I liked and Mr A agreeing) and finally chose the Allegra Charcoal design.

I gave Mr A the job of measuring the windows. Make My Blinds have a range of guides on how to measure your windows so it was an easy task. The large window was having a recess fitting so he measured across at the top, middle and bottom of the window. The guide said to select the smallest measurement. The narrow window was an exact measurement fitting so he measured once for the width we wanted. Once we had the measurements I entered them in the easy to use order form.

Fitting the blinds

Once the blinds were ready I received an email letting me know the date they would be delivered.
The Make My Blinds website have additional guides on fitting your blinds, but given Mr A’s lack of skills in this department we decided to seek the help of a friend to put them up.

We had a small problem when he came to put the blinds up as we had assumed the blind fittings would have screws with them, but once this was resolved our friend Shaun had no problems fitting them.

The finished blinds look great. My photos really don’t do them justice.

I would recommend to anyone who is currently looking to replace their blinds. The help you get via the site and your individual sales assistant makes the ordering process quick and simple and the finished products are beautifully made and great value for money.

Are you a fan of blinds? Have you ever used a made to order blind service?

They look fab. We used a similar service years ago and could probably do with it again in some parts of our house! I had to laugh because we’ve been in our house nearly four years and still need to do our bedroom too!

They are great. They have a rubbery surface on the back that stops all the light
