Steampunk Shenanigans – My Sunday Photo – 15/07/18

Hello readers. Mr A and myself have been steampunking again this weekend. In the fabulous setting of the Blaenavon Ironworks, my lovely friends The Wee Crafty Folk held their yearly Steampunk Extraordinarium.

As well as the usual top class entertainment and stalls, this year there were two new exhibits that appealed to both steampunks and sci-fi geeks ( I am of course both). A beautifully crafted steampunk Tardis and an amazing steampunk R2D2.

Steampunk Tardis. Dr Who style Tardis made out of wood, brown and bronze

Close up of the sign on the Tardis door. Police Telephone, For use of steampunks. Cogs and gears obtainable immediately. Professor's amd airships respond to all calls. Pull to open.

Close up of inside the Tardis. Lots of dials and pipes

Steampunk R2D2 with a toy Yoda on the back

As always we had a fabulous day out, and look forward to what delights are there next year.

That looks like a fascinating event, I think they should reshoot the whole of Star Wars with a steam punk theme! I have never been to a steam punk event, I’m not even sure that many people in Ireland have heard of it. 😁 #mixitup

OMG you go to the most amazing events, i really must see if there is anything like this near enough for us to visit. The tardis and R2D2 are amazing, what a great mixture of sci fi and steam punk, who would have thought it! I was reminded of my trip to the MAD museum in Stratford on Avon, not exactly steam punk, but a lot of unusual mechanical designs. Have you been there? (I do have a post and a little video about it if you want to take a look.) I’ve pinned your lovely photos 🙂
