Tintern Abby – My Sunday Photo – 22/04/18

Hello everyone. This weeks picture post is another archive one. The photos were taken back in 2016. Cadw (the Welsh equivalent to the national trust) held an event in September 2016 where visitors could go to various heritage sites around Wales for free. I had wanted to visit Tintern Abbey for a while, so Mr A and I took advantage of the free offer.

Set in the Wye Valley Tintern Abbey looks impressive from the road, but takes on a whole new dimension when you view it up close.

Tintern Abbey pictured from the outside. Blue sky above

Broken down walls pictured from above

Inside the abbey, looking along the centre of the abbey towards an archwat which would have been a window

Although in ruins now thanks to Henry VIII, you can still imagine how beautiful and impressive the abbey must have been in medieval times.
