Wingz Lace Sleeves

Hello everyone.  Well at long last it appears spring is finally here. The clocks have gone forward and the nights are drawing out. Along with the lighter evenings is the very welcome addition of some warmer weather.

Like most people I’m always happier when the sun is out and the sky is blue, but sunny skies are not without their problems. I’m a sensitive wee thing, or at least my skin is. Even in the mild spring weather there is the real risk of getting sunburnt unless I’m smothered in sun cream or properly covered up.

Personally I find sun cream a bloomin pain to apply. It’s fine for faces, but trying to ensure it has covered every inch of my exposed wobbly arms is troublesome, so usually I try to wear long sleeves instead.

However summer dresses are not designed to have long sleeves, so in mid summer I’m left with the option of putting a long sleeve top under my summer dresses or a cardigan over the top. Neither of these choices is ideal as layering up in summer leads to soggy pits and boob sweat!

This summer however I’ve found a brilliant alternative. The lovely people from Wingzfashion  have sent me a pair of their wingz to try out.

What are Wingz?

Wingz are described as neither underwear outer wear. They are in effect a pair of sleeves (wings) joined together by  a central band. Designed to be worn under sleeveless dresses as a fashion accessory, to transform summer dresses into winter dresses, and to cover up arms (either for aesthetic reasons or like for myself to protect against the sun).

I chose a pair of black 3/4 length lace wings to try out because being the good rock chic that I am most of my sleeveless dresses are black. There is also a wonderful range of chiffon, satin and stretch material wingz in a range of colours.

To wear the wings you need to put them on like you would a long sleeve top and then pull the band under your bust/bra.

Black lace sleeves connected by an elastic waist strap. Led out on a purple bed

For the sake of decency I won’t show you any pictures of me wearing just the wingz but you can see how they work with my dresses in the pictures bellow.

*I should add a disclaimer here, I’m not a very natural model and Mr A isn’t the best photographer, but out of the 300+ pictures he took I found 4 I’m happy enough with to share*

Lady in black short sleaved with white embroidery around the neck
This dress isn’t exactly strappy, but still leaves me at risk of burning
Lady in same black short sleeved dress with white embroidery, now wearing lace sleeves under the dress
Note my inability to smile

Lady in black v necked sleaveless sundress
I love this dress as it shows off all my tattoos, but I avoid wearing in when it’s really sunny
Lady in same v necked sleeveless drss wearing the wing 3/4 length lace sleeves underneath
I love the sleeves so much with this dress I even managed to crack a smile

The wingz are a brilliant way to keep arms safe in the warmer weather. They would also look fabulous under a lovely over-bust corset for those steampunk ladies who like to have their arms covered up. I shall be trying out my wingz next time I go to a steampunk event.

Have you ever bought any wingz? If not would you buy some now?

The lace ones are only black or white and possibly red, but they do other styles in different colours

Ooh what a great invention! I’m like you I burn in the slightest of sun rays lol. Did you find where the band went across you got uncomfy or hot? Or was it just like an extension of the bra? #lgrtstumble

Oh I LOVE those, I would seriously wear them!!! My only problem is that I have such a tiny bust, I can see the elastic riding up to my armpits. Well done, I think you did brilliantly as a reluctant model 😀 #lgrtstumble

I’m tempted to rush out and buy some wingz right now! Although sadly I fear I might not look as good or my appearance in them go down as well as yours would.
